Amanda
Brown – Landscape and Garden Design was established
in 1997 and is based in a studio in Hertford which
is well situated to cover London and the south-east.
Amanda was the designer of the medal winning ‘Total
Eclipse of the Sun’ Garden at the 1999 Chelsea
Flower Show.
Our team works on gardens ranging
from small, urban front gardens, up to parts of large
country estates.
Projects undertaken in 2005 include:
- a large family
garden set in a village, with an informal shaped
swimming pool and deep borders planted with low
maintenance trees, shrubs and bold sweeps of grasses.
- a formal, country
garden set on the banks of a river, with borders
designed with colour in mind, a vegetable garden,
parterre and summer house for painting.
- a low-maintenance,
sloping front garden, designed around a mature magnolia.
- bold, sweeps
of mixed planting transform a former field into
a country garden with a large pond. A timber board-walk
leading to an island seating area.
- a small, suburban
garden suitable for a young, growing family with
a quiet seating area capturing the evening sun.
- a planting
scheme for a large garden with areas under trees
and along a river bank.
- a neat, modern
design for a working couple with an interest in
gardening but limited time.
- four roof terraces
forming the outdoor spaces of a London penthouse
using stainless steel and resin-bonded gravel for
maximum impact in a small space.
